Ruminator 03:13
I’ll ruminate from dusk to dawn Til the panic’s gone Til the panic’s gone I’ll place a bet, mind races on Mind races My mind races You stake a claim and call my name I’ll come sprinting I’ll come sprinting Is it safe to stay? I speculate Still picking up what we’re missing You could do the right thing, baby You could do the right thing Our patron saint of patience waits A long time for a lifeline I’m left spinning plates until this shakes It’s killing me You’re giving me A false sense of hope How does one cope? In the meantime, here’s your lifeline It’s the awkward shrug pulling out the rug Falling in and out of love is a hard drug You could do the right thing, baby You could do the right thing Gonna take my head for a spin The wheels come off And fear sets in Tripwire, tripwire, tripwire your brain’s under siege The panic stops The fear retreats When you’re next to me When you’re next to me Your ruminator will linger on Your ruminator will linger on Your ruminator will linger on Your ruminator will linger on

I’ve been waiting while you’re looking for a sign I can’t regret if it’s love I leave behind When you’re crawling on the floor I’ll be leaving on the train Blackout everything you want Keep my mouth out of your name Tell me last night did I ever cause a scene? I’d get sober, then my life would intervene When you’re crawling on the floor I’ll be leaving on the train I get everything I want Keep my mouth out of your name I’ve been waiting While you’re looking for a sign I can’t regret If it’s love I leave behind When you’re crawling on the floor I’ll be leaving on the train Blackout everything you want Keep my mouth out of your name When you’re crawling to the door I’ll be laughing in the rain I get everything I want Keep my mouth out of your name

The panic I could never trace Illusions of a smoking gun Mirrors in a haunted house close in I want to run Out of the woods Or deep in my mind Board the walls Lock the bolts from the inside Exit quickly through the back door Voices screaming through the floorboards I’d hate to lose control The feelings I could never face Always seem to leave me numb Sweating out a block of ice Fight, flight, time to choose one To take in this storm Out for a ride Batten down the hatches, it’s high tide Exit quickly through the back door Voices screaming through the floorboards I’d hate to lose control Can you hear me? I can’t see you Can you hear me? I can’t I can’t Can you hear me? I can’t see you I can’t see you I can’t I can’t Get out, get out, get out, get out Get out, get out, get out, get out Get out, get out, get out, get out Get out, get out, get out, get out Can you hear me? I can’t see you Can you hear me? I can’t I can’t

Jane was a girl Light years away Lost in her thoughts Bored with her days She passed the time taking walks to the park Smoking on swing sets until it got dark 20 years old No one was told Skirting the sidelines to not break the mold She left her house to retreat to the park Leaving her parents alone in the dark Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes for me Tell them all Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes Tell them all yes Tell them all Are you anxious or afraid? Truth is this doesn’t change Who you’ve been all along And no one can tell you you’re wrong Jane was a girl Finding her place Outside of thoughts into livelier days She didn’t know about the girl at the park She fell in love with a girl after dark Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes for me Tell them all yes for me Tell them all I’ll tell them yes for me I’ll tell them yes for me I’ll tell them yes Tell them all yes Tell them all I’ll tell them all I’ll tell them all

about

Early Internet is the moniker for Seattle-based indie / dream pop artist, Dean Stafford.

The debut album, 2021’s ‘You’re Just In Time To Miss Everything,’ captured the attention of outlets like KEXP, who coined the songs, ‘a sharp set of nostalgic, melancholic, dreamy indie-pop.’ The album ranked #133 on the NACC Radio 200 Chart and the single “Blankets” has amassed 1.5 million streams across digital platforms.

Now, Stafford returns with ‘Ruminator;’ a follow-up worthy of the moody maritime layers surrounding him in the Pacific Northwest.

The album’s first song and title track “Ruminator” is a swirling opus that serves as the glue to the album’s overarching themes of anxiety and overthinking.

Sonically, these songs mark a step forward for Early Internet, featuring guitar solos, acoustic instrumentation, and even harmonicas; all of which were textures not previously found on the first album.

Tracks like “Keep My Mouth Out Of Your Name” would sit well amongst 90s TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while other tracks like “Tell Them All Yes” resemble jangly, acoustic college rock and Britpop.

The music video for “7 Sided Room,” a song about panic attacks, was directed by indie / cult director, Mark Borchardt, (American Movie, Coven), and provides a campy, horror film aesthetic.

‘Ruminator’ was co-produced in Los Angeles with Devon Corey (Caroline Loveglow, Middle Part) and mastered by John Greenham (Billie Eilish, Bo Burnham) at Clearlight Mastering. Select tour dates to celebrate the release have been scheduled across North America.

Early Internet has played legendary venues like The Showbox in Seattle, The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and The Lodge Room in Los Angeles. Previous festivals include the 25th Anniversary of Capitol Hill Block Party (feat. MUNA, Goth Babe, Momma, and more).
